Mental disorder is a syndrome characterized by individual cognitive, emotional or volitional behavior disorders, that is, diseases that affect emotions, thinking and behavior. These include anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and alcohol and drug use disorders, among others.

Mental disorders are common, affecting about one in five adults each year, and can occur at any age.
The China Mental Health Survey completed in 2015 shows that the prevalence of mental disorders in Chinese adults is about 17% (this survey does not include sleep disorders).
Among them, among people over 18 years old, the top three mental disorders with the highest incidence rate are:
Anxiety disorders had the highest prevalence, with a lifetime prevalence of approximately 7.6% and a 12-month prevalence of approximately 5%.
Depression is the second most common type of mood disorder.
The lifetime prevalence rate is about 7.4%, and the 12-month prevalence rate is about 4%.
The average age of onset is 20-30 years old, showing an increasing trend year by year.
Alcohol and drug use disorder is the third, with a lifetime prevalence rate of 4.7% and a 12-month prevalence rate of 2%. The risk of the disease decreases with age, and the risk of the disease is lowest for people aged 65 and over.
